AT&T never learns!!
by Eric Bradshaw on Jun.08, 2009, under AT&T, Apple, Bitches & Gripes, Computer Hardware, Console / PC games, iPhone 3Gs
Well once again it looks like AT&T is in the process of shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to their iPhone customers. These people are the ones most likely to buy a new iPhone and they are going to charge them $499 instead of the $299 for an upgrade. What a slap in the face to all of the people that have supported AT&T in the past. I seem to remember this being an issue last go around when swapping from the iPhone to the iPhone 3G. You would think AT&T would have learned not to piss off all the Apple fanboys out there. All I really have to say is fuck you AT&T!!!
Are Protection Plans Really Worth the Cost?
by Eric Bradshaw on Apr.28, 2008, under Apple, Computer Hardware, General Web
I just received an email from Apple letting me know that my 1 year warranty is just about up on my iMac. Of course in the email they are quick to make note that I can still get an AppleCare Protection plan for my computer at a nominal fee ($169 for the iMac). Are these plans really worth it? In the past these types of warranty plans have all seemed very limited in what types of things they would repair or replace for you. BestBuy sell these plans with most of there electronics and I have always shyed away from purchasing any of them. What do you think?
Is it Friday yet?
by Eric Bradshaw on Apr.03, 2008, under Computer Hardware, General
Boy this week has been dragging!!! I woke up today thinking it was (or should be) Friday. Of course to my utter dismay it is only Thursday. Hopefully the rest of the day will be quiet just like the rest of the week has been but, it could be moving a little faster
. I installed a new printer at my house last night. My poor Dell 3010n has been giving me streaks when printing (only the color items). I figure it is either the drum kit or something goofy with the laser assembly. If its that drum kit then that will cost $200 bucks or right at to replace. If it is something with the laser assembly than I believe the printer is still under warranty. The only problem there is coordinating with a Dell tech to come out and take a look at it (alwasy fun when you work and also live alone). After pricing the drum kit replacement I opted for buying a new printer which Ifigured was only $70 dollars more than the drum kit. I decided to go with an HP Color Laserjet 2605dn this time. This way I know what I get will fix the problem
!! I may still call the Dell tech to check the printer and go from there once the diagnoses is made and confirmed. Oh well back to the grind for now.

Well, I figured I would give an Apple Time Capsule a try for backup and storage among other things. Its on order at the moment but should be here soon. From what I have read you can backup to this device wirelessly. Time Capsule has a built in 500 GB or 1 TB server grade hard drive depending on the model that you purchase. The device is also a complete wireless N router with 3 - 1 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, 1 Ethernet WAN port and 1 USB port to allow printer and external storage attachment. When it comes in I will update on how well it works with OS X and Windows.

Apple Iphone Update 1.1.1
by Eric Bradshaw on Oct.03, 2007, under Bitches & Gripes, Computer Hardware, Computer Software
Well it looks like Apple has decided it was time to BRICK some Iphones out there. It appears that after applying the new 1.1.1 Iphone update that many of the cracked and app added Iphones have stopped working all together. I am sure this makes many of the customers just thrilled
. When updating mine (which has not been hacked) I noticed that Apple forced a reactivation with AT&T. I am assuming from that little update feature that anyone who has hacked an Iphone to work with T-Mobile or other networks no longer have a phone after doing the update. In fact looking around the web it seems that is the case. Almost all of the hacked Iphones are now BRICKED. Apple released an announcement prior to this update that no Iphones that have been hacked will be serviced at the Apple stores Genius Bar. It also stated that it voids the warranty and terms of use having basically told all the early adopters who have enjoyed playing with the hacks and third party apps FUCK YOU. I may be wrong but I believe that the DMCA allowed for the “hacking” of mobile phones due to the right of the customer to use devices that they have purchased on different carrier networks. I have heard many others argue this point but it seems that Apple still felt the need to kill this ability along with ripping their customers off.
For those who didn’t hack the phone it looks like you do get a few new features from this update. You now have the ability to purchase Itunes songs over the WIFI connection on the phone. This is a plus since many complained about not having this feature at the phone launch. Next it seems that they have tried to increase the volume of the speaker phone (which was much needed). Last but not least they have made it easy to turn off all of the data (EDGE) services on the phone in case you are traveling outside of the US. Many that have these phones and have been outside the US come back to cell bills that are thousands of dollars due to the DATA roaming that occurs.
I guess we will all have to wait and see what APPLE and AT&T decide do next after all of the flak from this move starts to rear it ugly head.
Stay Tuned!!
Apple Store Credit for early Iphone adopters.
by Eric Bradshaw on Sep.15, 2007, under Computer Hardware
Just wanted to throw this up here since I just now saw it. It looks like Apple has finally released the details on how to get your $100 store credit if you were an early Iphone adopter. Hopefully this will help smooth over some of that Apple Fanboy tension that has been going on since the price lowering on the Iphone.
Iphone Price Reduced and New Ipod Touch!
by Eric Bradshaw on Sep.07, 2007, under Computer Hardware
Well it is official the price has now dropped on the Iphone exactly $200 since I bought it in June. I have to say even though the price has now dropped I don’t regret buying it. It has by far been the absolute best phone I have ever used. I find myself using it often to answer emails, surf the web for prices on things to compare to the in store price before purchasing them, to just regular phone stuff. Anyone who purchased one of these devices knew the price was going to drop eventually (just didn’t expect it this soon LOL). There was an apology offered from apple today however and a little side gift offered to make things right Steve Jobs Apology.
Now on to the Ipod Touch! I have to say it is a neat little device. Looks almost exactly like the Iphone with only a few of the phone type features missing. That fact that they have a 16 GB version makes me a little irritated though. Why didn’t they release a 16 GB version of the Iphone? I guess they just want people to buy both LOL. Sorry to say but on this end I can’t justify that. However, I guess it is a great alternative for those who wanted the coolness of the touch screen of the Iphone in a regular Ipod.
